To familiarize students with the use of stem cells.
To investigate the benefits and controversies of stem cell use.
Media Literacy Goals:
To evaluate the credibility of information from different sources.
To appreciate multiple perspectives of a controversial topic.
To create a Prezi presentation based on their understanding of stem cell research.
Other Goals:
1. To form an opinion, based on evidence, on stem cell use.
Proposed Activities:
1. Background research on the history of stem cell research. Explore myths and realities of stem cell research.
2. View political cartoons. Discuss and decode.
3. View the Independent Lens- NOVA special. Discuss and decode.
